2026.04.01 Call for nominations for the 2026 Kyushu University Sanae Ito Award (Nomination deadline: June 11).
Nominations are now open for the 2026 Kyushu University Sanae Ito Award.
This award was established in FY2018 to support the development of outstanding female researchers who will lead the future of academic research. It is funded by the Sanae Ito Memorial Fund, created in accordance with the wishes of the late Ms. Sanae Ito, former Executive Vice President of Kyushu University, who contributed significantly to its establishment. In 2020, the award was renamed the Kyushu University Young Female Researchers and Female Graduate Students Outstanding Research Award (Sanae Ito Award).
Eligible candidates are young female researchers at Kyushu University (excluding professors) and female graduate students who have achieved outstanding academic research results. To encourage broader nominations, the minimum affiliation requirement for the young female researcher category was shortened from three years to one year starting in FY2021.
Over the past seven years, numerous nominations have been received annually in both categories. In each category, one candidate is selected from each of three fields—Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Engineering, and Life Sciences. From these, one Grand Prize winner and two Excellence Award winners are chosen.
